Mercruiser 3.0lx - What gauge is purple wire in engine harness?

Hey everyone-

Quick question- does anyone know what gauge the purple wire (#5) that feeds power from the key switch to the instruments, and then to the engine through the main wiring harness is supposed to be? I'm running a new wire from the dash and want to keep the gauge the same. Thanks!

I'm pretty sure it is 16AWG, but If you have the strippers use it to gauge the wire.

Just replaced the pig tail on my engine because the plug went bad, and I do remember it to be smaller then I thought it would be

Ayuh,..... I was gonna say 14ga,..... might be 16,....

Ok thanks- I had eyeballed it at 18, but I think it's a touch thicker than that, so 16 might be the one

It's 16 Gauge. I was just under the dash working on mine last week.
