Mercruiser 3.7

Hey everybody , just got a quick question , I own a 1987 sea Ray Seville it has a mercruiser 3.7 165hp I see that the 3.7 also came with 190hp how can I upgrade my 165 to 190hp ? What exactly is different between the two is it carb size , different cam, comp. Ratio? Hopefully someone out there knows , I'll b waitin for a reply , thanx guys

Ayuh,... 2bbl. carb, vs. a 4bbl. carb...

You also have to change the intake to handle the 4 bbl carb. They were also different. Check ebay, the combination will show up and tend to have a high price tag for the small amount of gain.

Want a real performance gain? Replace cylinder head with #60669 Edelbrock for a 460 Ford, and replace carb with 500cfm Holley 2BBL marine carb on stock 2bbl intake manifold. At one time Merc listed different cams, but now have been condensed into one replacement shaft.

Well thanx for all the info but now I have bigger problems over the weekend me and a few of my freinds decided to go for a night cruise to check out my underwater LED lights, while heading out I decided to put on the stern light I had a freind take the wheel like a dumb *** he went full speed when I turned around there was a pontoon boat right in front of us , we slammed into the back and actualy jumped over the back and lost control , my boat then smashed into the woods n threw a couple trees ! I'm so thankful nobody was seriosly injured or killed. My buddy was arrested for recless driving n failure to look out . The other boat was a 1995 smokercraft pontoon boat, now the owner wants me to give him $8500 for his boat is that a little steep for a boat that's over 15 years old? Mine was old but I put so much time n effort into restoring it ,bad weekend everybody hope yours was better!!!!
