Mercruiser 305 distributor breather

Working out the bugs on this 1989 305 mercruiser. It has the stock merc distributor. I noticed there is a brass breather on the side of the distributor. Is this just a breather or is is vac. advance? If it's an advance, where does it hook up to, There is no open connections on the carb.

That's Just a Breather,...... Sparks Can't go around corners,.......

I believe what you're describing is a vent.........not a breather.

Nothing connects to it.
