My '92 Mercruiser 350 Mag w/ Alpha 1 has thru hull stainless exhaust as installed by the previous owner. Couple of questions here....
1. I've seen noted in other threads that there are flappers installed on the tips of their exhaust. I've never seen any such flappers. My tips are wide open, though curved downward. Should there be something on here?
2. I love the sound of my boat with the above water exhaust, but there are times when I'd much prefer the quiet offered by the normal below water exhaust. Do you guys know anything about the "switchable" exhaust that is offered by various manufacturers? Is there anything particularly good or bad about these systems or any bugaboos to look out for in installing one?
