Just finished servicing my 2012 mercruiser 4.3 with new oil, filter, impeller and lower unit oil. Boat has sat for the last 7 years by previous owners And only has 63 hours on it. After replacing fuel and fuel pump, motor started right up and idled perfectly with no alarms. After above service, the under dash sounds as soon as I turn the ignition switch to on and stays on after starting the engine. Any ideas what could be wrong? I also replaced the blower switch in dash. Could I have jiggled something loose? All of the toggle switches work as they should.

Is this the tank near the front top of the engine. What type oil does it take, 90 wt? Thanks for your replies!
its proper marine gear oil.

also make sure that you followed the manual on the fill proceedure

since the boat sat for 7 years. you will most likely have to pull the reservoir out and clean it out as the factory Mercruiser oil has a bunch of wax and other fillers in it that drop out of suspension.

Thanks Scott, I will check it out tonight. I sure hope this is to fix. Thanks again for the reply.

On these you fill from the bottom with the vent plug out on the drive & then when the gear oil appears at the vent; replace the plug & keep pumping till it fills the gear lube bottle. Pump slowly to allow air to escape. After running briefly re-check level in the bottle.

Quicksilver high performance gear oil would be the OEM oil for her. If you drained the entire gear oil contents, then fill from the bottom and top up the tank…it will take a while for the level to settle and require another top up after the first few outings usually. At least one anyway

Thanks to all for your heLo! Found the gear oil header tank empty and a mass of black oil goop in the bottom. Cleaned and reinstalled tank, filled the tank with 90wt marine gear lube, and alarm has been silenced. Tested the boat for the first time today and she ran perfect. Thanks to all of you!😎

Did you fill from the drive, or pour in from the top?
