Hey all!

I have a healthy 2005 4.3 MPI, fully serviced etc that runs great. We normally boat on water that has a temperature of around 60F and have zero issues, boat sits at 160 all day long.

Question is - we’re taking the boat on vacation and the area we’re visiting has water temp of 77F. Will the Mercruiser cope with those warmer raw water temperatures OK or should I change anything before we go? It has a recent water pump and risers etc. If it runs at a hotter temp due to the warmer water how hot is too hot?

Sorry if this is a daft question, just wanted to check!

Thanks

James

you will be fine.

when I moved from Wisconsin to Florida, my 2002 SeaRay with a 5.0 operated at the same temp in Lake Michigan 40F water as it did in Gulf of Mexico 95F water.

that little thermostat will do its job.
