Mercruiser 5.0 Closed System Question

Hi Everyone, I just replaced my H.E on my M/C The pad on the bottom of the H.E is in kind of tough shape. I think I remember reading a while back that the H.E should not touch the metal platform, or even the hose clamps that hold it in place..
Is this correct?

The only think about the HE not touching, is you don't want it to touch anything that it can move against. The HE should have clamps the secure it to the engine. If it can vibrate even the smallest amount it will wear a hole in it. Don't know what your calling the metal platform.
