Mercruiser 5.0. Ditching Seawater Pump. To a Crankshaft Pump

Hey guys it's just too difficult to change the impeller on my boat, I've done it many times and at almost 68 years old I can't get under engine anymore, it took me five hours to make the change and I almost needed a blood transfusion (lol) so I'm thinking of bypassing the sea water pump by using a crank shaft mounted Johnson pump. have any of you tried this, and the results ?

Many have done it without issues, I would do it but have no room in the front of the motor
