Does anyone know why a 5.0 lower end would be using gear lube? I have Checked for leaks and have found none! This power plant is pushing a 210 BR Crownline, and it seems to use more when, Skiing. boarding etc. My 19ft with a 6 cyl. never used gear lube like this. I am filling the reserve about every 2 weeks.. in about 10 hours of run time. Power seems to be normal, as well as pressure,s and temp.

Let's stop and think for a minute......if it's not leaking, where do you imagine it's going?

It leaks.
Pressure test drive and have it resealed.

Nature abhors a vacuum, so yes, eventually water will get in.

mvboudre,
Welcome to the forums. I have been around these forums for a while, and love them. I also just purchased a Crownline and you will find some great helpe at crowniehq.com also, its mainly a bunch of people with Crownlines. I was told about it on here, so I am passing it on to you.

They are great people on both sites, but the other one is more geared towards our actual boats 100%.

Ive got the same motor you have but in a 196br, 1994 model. How fast will yours run on that 210?

Hope you figure it out.

Bryan
