Mercruiser 5.0 questionable temp......

Hey all, just started my boat today to check things out. It's been really hot here, today around 90 and very humid. My boat was running on my muffs and started to get hot, around 180 to 200 so I shut it down. Pulled the hoses at the water housing (where the therm is) and the BIG hose on the right (standing in front of engine looking at housing) had no water in it, so I thought is must be the therm not opening, so I replaced it, but same temps. Now I don't know if it should be running about 150 on such a HOT day only on the muffs, but then again there should be water in all the hoses. I just had the outdrive serviced by a local boat shop. I thought they checked my impeller but now I'm questioning that. I will call them tomorrow when they reopen to see if they remember my drive and if they checked it.

One thing though.... the lower unit was taken off and sent out for skeg replacement. I don't think there was a heat issue because I believe they control the heat pretty well.

Anyway, my question is if I have water circulating to the point that it's coming out all exhaust ports, etc.. the impeller is okay? AND why is there no water in that one hose. Seems to me that the therm would control flow to that hose?

The engine water pump is not weeping, not making noise, has no play in the shaft.

Any help appreciated. Thanks

I guess what I'll do is pull the therm out and see what happens to determine if that might be an issue. I don't know for sure if the therm is what controls the water to that hose or not though. Possibly I just have a clogged water jacket or something.
