I have a 1991 Sea Ray 220DA with a 5.7 Mercruiser, Ser No: OD501645 & Model No: 4-57B100DS. When shifting in and out of gear the engine is dying. I am aware of carb icing when the engine is cold but the problem occurs even after a long run.
Could the problem be that I am to tentative when shifting into gear at such low revs that the engine is stalling when engaging the dog clutch?
The engine usually idles at around 900 rpm and when shifting into gear to manoeuvre I am probably only running at 1000 rpm.
Also what manual should I look at buying, as I have heard some are better than others?
Thanks
Richard
