I have a 97 Doral 230cc Mercruiser 5.7 lx III thru-hull exhaust. Went for a 2hr ride this morning, and she ran great, "however" when I came to a stop.. all of a sudden, I started smelling a lite oil smell exiting from the starboard exhaust, engine running really ruff, too the point of almost cutting off, and it sounded total different (like a problem). I putted the rest of the way in. At one point i took it up to 2600 rpm, heard no clings, ran fine, but once i slowed down, same thing. Preliminary checks so far- Oil looked good no water, no oil/water leaks, no engine clings/bangs in neutral and in forward gear, temp never went above 160, had a 1/2 tank of gas, wires and core all attached to plugs. (brand new battery this year) any suggestion???? (bad gas?)thank you
