Greetings!
Shiny new first time boat-owner and first time poster here. My recently purchased 94 Crownline BR26 has an extremely annoying problem whereby I can adjust the idle on the muffs, however after taking the boat out and cruising around the idle RPMs eventually drop to the point where the engine dies at idle.
I can readjust the screw to keep it running once this behavior starts however it seems noticeably more finicky about this setting where sometimes a half a screw turn seems the difference of a few hundred RPM.
As you can imagine, this is *very* frustrating and frankly dangerous as it makes low speed maneuvering a crap-shoot at best (trying to get it into the slip is a white-knuckle affair every time).
To-date what I believe are the two mixture screws on the Rochester 4 barrel 1.5 turns out from the bottom which is apparently a good starter setting and then adjusted the idle. Off of a cold started engine this works fine. Put it in the water and zoom around and the problem will quickly manifest itself however and seems to remain even after sitting around at anchor and swimming for a few hours.
I have also dabbed a small bit of silicone on the idle adjustment screw on the hope that possibly the engine vibration was backing it out. No such luck there however (or maybe I didn't get enough on the back and it still is?).
The engine runs fine at power. Perhaps a slight stumble at the onset (sometimes enough to kill it if the idle is already low), but once going it does just fine. No backfiring or anything.
At this point I believe my issue is with the carb? Some sort of port clogged up? Malfunctioning choke mechanism? Poorly adjusted? Some combination of these? Perhaps having it professionally rebuilt is my answer? (I am not about to try that).
Any comments or suggestions you may have would be much appreciated!
Respectfully,

ps - apologies for the lack of engine/carb numbers as the boat is currently in it's slip (wife really didn't like trailering it with her daily driver)
