A buddy has a 68 Starcraft with one of these and wants to do a tune-up. He's been unable to find much info so I told him I'd post here. Does this thing have conventional points? If so, would someone have a OEM or aftermarket number for them. Also other basics like plug type and number and gap/timing settings. I'm not finding much info. I do know its a Renault engine. The boat was a one owner and is in excellent shape. The engine ran great last year but he says he notices an occasional hiccup now and then. Fuel is fresh and tank is clean.
thanks

Re: Mercruiser 80 questions..

mucho appreciated....thanks all. Curious, ziggy....DO NOT USE in caps....I'm sure he's just been using regular pump gas. So he needs to use a lead additive? Is this common to this engine specifically or just basically to engines of that vintage?

HM....that avatar cracks me up every time I see it.
