Is it posible to replace the merc 888 trim switch and gauge with something that is a little more modern and easier to operate?
I have twin drives and when running I have to try to push the up and out butons of both switches at the same time whitch is virtually imposible. is this the proper operation .why would not just the out button work?
Also one of the trim indicator gauges is broke .Can these gauges be replaced with newer gauges? Thanks.

I would hope that they make a better replacement switch.

I have this style and it sucks for twin drives.

Ayuh,... My guess is the wires on the outdrive are Rotten,...
That's Why you need to push Both buttons for trimming out...

By-passing the Limit Switch, just inside the transom will allow you to trim with only 1 button, but it Won't stop at the trim level, it'll go all the way to Trailer...

Yes, the gauges are replacable... But I'd think the Rotten Wires might be a problem there as well...

Yes I did find some rotten wires comming thru the transom to the inside. How would I go about bypassing the wires?
I was also hopping that there was a better aftermarket trim switch that would work on the trottle or just work better.
