I have a project 79 Sea Ray SRV200 with a 898 Mercruiser. So far I've found bearings in the lower unit and some transom water damage about halfway up the transom. <br /><br />I've purchased a new SEI sterndrive and wonder if the motor/drive will have enough support through the transom to not damage it if I run it this way. Should I repair the transom first or will it be OK to run for the rest of the season? <br /><br />The motor also overheats so I suspect the log manifolds as I have replaced the impeller, thermostat and housing. I guess these will need to be replaced also.<br /><br />What do you think?<br /><br />Jon S.
