Mercruiser Alpha One tilt/trim issue

Outdrive will not go down. Up button it goes up, down button it still goes up. Trim button does nothing but cause the solenoid to click. I can jump the larger terminals and the outdrive will go up, jump the terminals on the other solenoid and it goes down. From the thotlle controls the drive will only go up whether I press the up or down tilt button. I have checked all wires and they are all hooked up correctly with clean terminal ends. Any ideas?

Sounds like shorted or pinched wires in the control....thats where I would start. 'nutcase

Apparently I jumped the gun when posting this thread. I found the issue. I have a rare case here. Both solenoids are bad. I replaced then with two known good solenoids and everything is working great.
