Hy Guys,

due to my never ending search of "footage" i got stucked at a 2009 Bayliner model 300/315 which has the same width as my 285 SB, almost ;-) fitting to european street laws to carry on top of my truck. (just 2 1/2 inches in width to negitoate with whoever will start to claim...) Twin engines, sea core a little more lenght and a higher "nose" beside some nice to have features at a reasonable price makes me "wild" to go for it.

This boat is equipped with the AXIUS system as well. On internet Nexius realy looks as a very good feature. Well developed and relaible. BUT QUESTION: I am wondering if the system with just an electronic connection between steering wheel and an electronic hydraulic connection between the two z drives is unproblematic.

Are there any experiences to let me know about it?

Many thanks in advance
Oliver

Axius is much more than simply an electronic connection. there are hundreds of lines of code to tye together and control everything to make it easy to drive with a tiny little joystick. Its a system similar to the Cummins/Mercruiser Zeus sytem. (also similar to V-P's IPS system)

I to would be interested in hearing any first hand knowledge, but like Scott there is a bunch of issues going on. the good is when something goes wrong it stops working, the bad is everything stops working.

So you will not have the problem of running into someone uncontrollably, but when everything stops working you could float into someone uncontrollably.

Similar to Zues and IPS.. ONLY in that it has a joystick control, and not pod drives. Axius uses sterndrives only. Good system when it is working.
If it develops electronic issues (and it will) it's a nightmare to troubleshoot, even for a Merc tech.

My thought is this: if you are worried about maintenance cost then a high end electronic control system is not for you.... If your theory is dump it and buy something else if you have problems then go for it.
