Left 1 month dry not running fuel bowl completly evaporated dry . Used gear oil jug to prime filled with gas . Is there somthing wrong with fuel pump as I shouldn't have to crank this long to start ? Don't rember carbs that are open on bowl to air ? Going to always test on driveway before taking out now .

If I understand you correctly, are you saying after a month of not using the boat, you went to start it, but the carb bowl was dry and needing priming with gas?

What are you working on? And what carb? Some carbs are notorious for leaking internally down the intake - but it has nothing to do with the pump.

1987 3.0 L 130 HP MCM Mercruiser Carb . Might be from heat Build up from leaving tarp on and in full sun ?
Have checked after a couple weeks and there was enough left to see fuel pumped from accelerator pump . As far as it being open to air I was able to fill in elongated opening on top . I could be wrong but when I did it I didn't see any gas going down the throttle opening throats ?

I'd say that might just be your reason. Even though the carburettor is 'internally vented', that doesn't mean it's sealed. You were able to pour petrol straight into the float chamber, and fuel vapour will get out the same way. Evaporated out and up through the flame arrester...

Nothing wrong with the fuel pump...
