Re: mercruiser carb

At the base of the carb does it have one or two idle mixture screws? One screw is a Mercarb. Two screws is a Rodchester.

Re: mercruiser carb

You also need to know which type of Mercruiser carb you have since they come with different accelerator pumps. There is the 3/4" dia and 5/8" dia types, and starting in 1987 another type.

If you remove the top of the carb you can see the accelerator pump, which is a rod with a rubber piston-like seal on it. If the top of the rod has a hole through it and it is straight, then it is the 5/8 type. 3/4 one is bent at top.

Better instructions are at amarket.com
