Re: Mercruiser Drive Lube Monitor Gear Oil Bottle --MILKY--
Just curious. I had milky lube in the bottle.. i took the whole thing apart and cleaned it. it was kinda tough getting her all back together I finally did but im thinking was there a way to do this without taking it apart . what have you guys done when you needed to get the milk out? this was the new style bottle alpha one gen 2
I have never had milky oil in the monitor bottle (or drive for that matter), but I clean mine at the beginning of each season. Oil solids seem to collect on the bottom. I fill the bottle about 1/4 way with kerosene, and shake hard. Drain, and repeat if necc.
Have you checked the drive oil to make sure it wasn't milky? I would, for just piece of mind. I would think, that if water just got into the bottle that it would not mix into a milky solution given there is no agitation in bottle.
