Mercruiser Drive models by serial number

There seems to be a lot of confusion about which model of drive is which. This chart shows the serial numbers used on the 'R', 'MR', and 'Alpha 1' drives... Obviously if the serial number is earlier than the 'R', it's an MC-1.

Same as mine .. I have a feeling that was the last year they printed those handbooks... I have the outboard one too... I also have the I/O and O/B of 1989 and there's quite a bit of info in those that didn't make it to the 93 books.... Like the full set of tune-up specs in the back of the 89... Not in the 93... same with the O/B...

They still print them every year, but my guess is the 93 one has more info for the older stuff, and what changed in 91 and 92 than any other. Have a 95 MC and it's just as thick, just nothing that usable.
That 93 notebook should be required reading for anyone working on their own Mercruiser. No matter what year. Lots of info, lots of bulletins that meant something. for the older engines.
OF course, if you have a 2000 EFI, it would be worthless.
