The motor is a 1984 140 HP alpha one all original. Meticulously maintained, about 1100 hours. Always garage kept unless its in the water for the day.
Yesterday on clear flat water running about 3500 rpm I noticed a "rumbling noise" that appeared to come from the engine or outdrive. It was faint - only heard it because it was so quiet outside that day. I peeceived no vibration on the wheel or boat.
I slowed to about 2000 rpm and it went away. Later in the day it came back again under the same circumstances.
The U-joint was last greased about 45 hours ago and all looked well.
Should I be concerned?
