Does anyone know the correct Mercruiser part numbers for the flywheel housing and coupler for a 1996 GM 5.7L with Alpha One drive?

What I have in my hand for parts is a 96119 housing and a triangle coupler but don't know if those are correct.

I have seen the 96119, 865657A04, 12675A7, and 12675 A or C1 casting numbers listed for the flywheel housing so a bit lost.

Thanks...

Do you have the engine serial number. Only difference would be Alpha or Bravo drive. for the couplers opening

I am building the engine from a GM 1996 vortec 4 bolt main block (880 casting) so there is no Mercruiser serial number since it is not a Mercruiser engine..

This is not going to be so easy. All we can give you is a parts listings, you'll have to decide which parts are right.

Here is the parts listing based purely on the year, 1996 and the displacement, 5.7 litre...

Good luck (because that's all I can offer)

Thanks, it is a standard Chev 880 5.7L vortec block as I mentioned. So, was just looking for the parts called out for the equivalent Mercruiser version of this block built up to a Mercruiser engine assembly. I bought a slightly used
865657A04 aka 12675A 7 housing as described in the link. It apparently has a cutout at the base of the coupler opening which seems to be correct for the triangle coupler. Based upon what I have read on the 5.7L vortec, it requires a 14 inch flywheel. So, will mount it up once I get it and make sure it all matches. The only difference I could find in the reading is that my 96119 does not have the cutout so must be used with the older round cast coupler. Mine is the triangle coupler.

the flywheel size is determined by the housing, not the motor in front of it. since 1955 there have been two different flywheel sizes for all GM V8's, V6's, I4's and I6's, 153 tooth and 168 tooth.

as Chris stated, 1996 was a cross over year for the marine world as it may be a left-over 1995 motor and drive in the boat. hence the need for a serial number.

while it is true that the manual transmission flywheel for a 12" clutch, referred to as 168 tooth (incorrectly called a 14" flywheel) was the standard offering in 1996, it was not in 1995, which offered both the 153 tooth and the 168 tooth flywheels.

If you can post the drive serial number, that MAY help.
