I pulled my 3.0 mercruiser engine last winter to replace a rusty/leaking timing cover. While the engine is out, I've decided to repaint my bilge. The boat manufacturer did a poor job attaching the front engine mount. The original front mount appears to be a glassed in piece of pressure treated 2x6. It looks like the poly resin didn't adhere to the treated lumber very well. I'm planning on using a thinned out epoxy to seal the new wood engine mount and then glue it in with 3M 5200. It will then be glassed over with poly resin. Any recommendations as to type of wood to use??
