I'm in the process of rebuilding an '87 Mercruiser Gimbal/Ring/bell housing which I've obtained used. I need to re-install the upper pivot steering bolt that goes from the Gimbal Ring into the underside of the top of the Gimbal Housing, but I'm not sure which way the seal (part 26-32911) should be installed. One side is flat and the other is cupped. The original one was torn to shreds when I pulled it apart, so I was unable to tell which way it was. Should the cupped part face upwards and contact the gimbal housing? My Clymer doesn't address this, and I can't find info anywhere on this. TIA.
