I have a 1989 17' Glasstream Cuttlass 172
Mercruiser 3.0L Alpha 1 engine and Alpha 1 outdrive

At a stop (before pulling up a skier) idle is good. When I start (as much force as possible to pull a skier) there is a moment (about 2-4 seconds...maybe 1-2) of sluggishness...Then it picks right up.

pulled dist cap and everything looks alright with cap and rotor.

Someone told me to out sea foam in the carb and let sit overnight, then try to start with all spark plugs (4) removed...
Then install new spark plugs and go...(I am not sure of the quality of this information)...

No other problems mechanically though.
Sometimes it is a little hard to start when I first put it in the water.

Other than that, everything seems fine (no pings, knocks, funny noises, and such)

Thanks for all of the help from the experts!!

Ayuh,.... Sounds like a Carb issue....

Squirtin' sea-foam on it don't do Squat,...
It needs to be torn down, soaked in solvent, blown out with compressed air, 'n properly reassembled...
