I just recently purchased a project boat. Its a 1982 Starfire with a Mercruiser 228. The boat was manufactured in 1981. The S/N on the outdrive is 5923758 1.5R What model drive is this? I know they changed the numbering system right around this time. Also, any idea of whether its a Right-hand or Left-hand drive? The Mercruise manual has two different throttle adjustment methodes depending on whether its a right or left drive. I have absolutely no idea what the difference would be other than the whole right and left thing
