Mercruiser IGN Module Question / Help Needed

Good Evening I have a 1990 Mercruiser 5.7L with Alpha I. Serial 0C664556
I am trying to replace the Ign module, that is behind distributor. When I go to the merc website it says to use this part 805361t4.. How ever if I go to a different site it says to use 814295A 1.. The First # 805361t4 looks like the module with out the metal bracket behind it. The second 814295A 1looks exactly like it with metal mounting bracket and all. Also stamped on the module is the following thunderbolt IV 4D07A V8-22a. There is quite a bit of price difference in the two. Can anyone tell me which is correct?

Also. by stating it is mounted behind the distributor this was actually attached to the engine block on the top aft side

Ok, got it figured out for you.
The 814295 is the correct one for your 89 engine (in a 1990 boat which is common).
The 805361 module is for an 87 model.
In the future, when you want to order parts, go by your SN. Use the Merc parts express and your SN to find the correct part number. Then if you want to look someplace else, at least you know the proper part to find.

So, another question on teh IGN Module... Supposedly this is supposed to be mounted behind the distributor.. How is it mounted. I dont think my set up is correct. anyone have a picture or anything. I looked in my Merc Manuals at least the ones I have and it does not appear to be addressed....

Your's isn't supposed to be on the distributor. With the triangular bracket that it's mounted on in your pictures it is supposed to be mounted on the port exhaust riser. It bolts to 3 lugs on the riser with 3 bolts and fiber spacers.

The clown that owned this boat before me had it bolted to the flywheel housing in back. and up on my stbd riser is where the shiftting mechaism was mounted. so I am wondering how I am going to mount that at this point now as well.. I dont have anything to reference since this is my 1st boat

Re-read my post again, I said PORT Riser, not stbd.

it sure does. I guess that is why I would have had a problem... Wrong riser.. HA HA....
