Hello All,

I'm rewiring an I/P for:

2003 MC 4.3L

All new gauges.

The wiring is a mess but I have a pretty good handle on what goes where, except one.

The kill switch:

I have a new switch and realize it is a simple on/off.

My question is, what circuit should that switch break? The yellow/red stripe "I"circuit off of the key switch? Or another??

My ignition switch has one wire on the "I" terminal (yellow/red stripe.

Thanks.

It`s wired to the purple ign wire , yellow/red goes to the slave solenoid "S" terminal

If it's an ignition kill, the purple. If it's a neutral safety switch, then the yellow/red.

The ignition switch should be wired, red on battery (B) terminal, purple on ignition (I), and yellow/red on the start (S) terminal.

Thanks all, that makes sense.

Another question: What is wired to the protected "S"terminal on the volt meter?

Thanks.

Nothing. Gauge manufacturers use the same body for all the gauges. The 'S' terminal is for 'senders', like for oil pressure and water temperature. As a voltmeter just reads the voltage between the + and - terminals, the 'S' terminal is not connected to anything. (It's not connected internally either).
