Mercruiser LH vs RH

So if I am replacing a LH engine with a RH engine...do I need to change lower units as well because it was a LH?

Why would ya be usin' a RH motor,..?? they've been obsolete since the '70s,....

Oh i see where I was confused, the lower unit controls rotation then?

There never was a "right hand engine" used in a outdrive application. Engine rotation is viewed from the flywheel left hand, CCW
that would be clockwise looking at the front of the motor

Yes. I have counter-rotating drives on my boat. Engines are the same and both rotate counter-clockwise (viewed from the flywheel looking forward). The drives make the difference.

And when removing the drive the standard one RH prop goes in fwd. the counter rotating drive LH prop goes in rev
