Saturday was out pulling a wakeboarder, had just gotten started maybe been driving 5 min when I heard the lower unit start making a noise, the best way I can describe it is if you roll your toungue the noise that you make is what it sounded like. Almost like gears clanging on each other but not engaging. The sound went along with the amount of throttle given. Anyways, i throttled back to neutral, and the boat died. I tried to restart it and it turns over about a half of turn but thats it. Like its binded up or something is keeping it from turning over. Tried turning the crankshaft, not happening. Removed plugs and tried to crank, nothing. Tried to jump it no go. Its a 260hp Mercrusier 5.0 Alpha I. Any ideas what is causing it??

Likely bad outdrive. Best to pull it off and see if motor will crank. Pretty simple. Put OD in forward. Remove 6-8 bolts on OD. Remove PTT cylinder mount bolts and cylinders, and pull drive off.

You might move this to the I/O section
