The Merc manuals have all kinds of special lubricants that are required when reassembling and installing the outdrive but most places don't sell any of them. For the current mini project, I need:
* Quicksilver 2-4-C Marine Lubricant with Teflon
* Quicksilver Special Lubricant 101
* Engine Coupler Spline Grease
* Gimbal Bearing Grease
* Quicksilver Perfect Seal

I'm buying everything from Iboats and have no local access to anything. It's hard enough to get 10w30 engine oil down here. (Not really, but you get the point. )

IBoats has 2-4-C Prop Lube and Spline Grease and I already have I can of Perfect Seal. I also found Sierra Marine Bearing Grease and if you blow up the can, it says it replaces 2-4-C.

What is Special Lube 101 and what can I use, hopefully from Iboats, in place of it?

Anything special for the Gimbal Bearing? I would think a good quality bearing grease with water repelling characteristics would work fine. That's what I used on it last time and it failed, but probably had nothing to do with the grease.

Thought someone like DonS who rebuilds drives all the time would have made some comments on what they use whether it's the Merc stuff or equivalent replacements.

Everyone must have thought this was another oil thread.

Ordered all the Merc lubes from another place since IBoats doesn't sell most of them. Hopefully the parts and the lubes will arrive at the same time and I won't be waiting for one or the other.
