Mercruiser Mod. MCM 898 Engine Wiring

The previous owner of my boat removed the helm station and cut all the wires. The plug at the engine is intact, and looks factory, and I'm hoping I can save some time buy finding a pin diagram of the plug. The engine is a Mercruiser Model MCM 898, Serial No. 5403939. Thanks in advance for any help you can give.

There are several combinations. What is the color of the wires that were cut? and how many were there 8 or 9? Can't really get an idea from those itsy, bitsy, pictures.

Thanks for the replies, guys...nice to meet you. The plug at the engine has 9 pins. At the helm there are actually three groups of wires coming from the main harness. (more wires than pins...hmmm) The main group is 8: Large red, black, red with white stripe. Then smaller wires: black, purple with white stripe, yellow, white, and orange. There are 2 separate (taped together) groups of 3 small wires each: white, green and black, is one group. The last group is: white, brown and black, and these are actually marked with a tag that says tach. I have continuity tested the larger wires, so i know that they run from the helm to the engine plug, but didn't get around to tracing the smaller wires yet. Just wonderin why there are more wires than pins...maybe it splits into two harnesses below decks somewhere? Ill have to take up some decking to find out, and i can ring the wires from the helm to the plug to see which ones terminate there.

Ok it sounds to me like you have the Pre BIA wiring and an ammeter. Let me see what I can get you. BTW, that link Chris posted is dead. I know, it used to be mine.
