Hey gang,

Yet another newbie question.

Soon I will be replacing my shift cable. I have a 1970 Larson with a Mercruiser 120 I/0.

I am still getting to know Mercruiser names and generations - I am assuming what I have is pre-Alpha, but several of the shift cable kits I have come across list MC-1, MC-R, Alpha 1, Gen 2, for one kit and Bravo for another.

My question is, what is MC-1 and MC-R, and would that shift cable be useable for my application? If not, what shift cable should I buy?

I apologize for what I assume is a really basic question.

Woohoo! I just realized I got another stripe and an iBoats promotion to Seaman Apprentice!

Not sure why the term "Pre Alpha" got started or what it means, all the outdrive designs before the Alpha are "PRE Alpha" and Alpha didn't start till 86.
You have a MC-1 drive, commonly called a ONE drive.
