Mercruiser 140, new rebuild from machine shop. Since 1st startup, it had an odd rattle at 1000-1100 rpm almost sounds like the lower flywheel cover is loose, though it isn't (already checked) it doesn't happen at any other rpm just around 1000, and not lower. Otherwise engine runs great, idles great, accellerates great.
I do know that my exhaust shutter is busted ( niether side but the middle is left and was like that when installed so there are no parts in the system) I guess my question is if this would be the source of my rattle.
