I have a 1968/69 Glastron V234 , with twin I/O mercruisers. I need to find out the model of the outdrives. Is there some marking or number on the outdrive units to tell what they are?

what kind of twin i/o mercruisers... what engine?

agreed, mc-1 would be most common, but not always. maybe he's got a rover, or mercedes, or renault engine???? i don't know. or maybe he has a 225 (gm 327) which was mated to a II drive. there even a 250 (gm 327) mated to a III drive..

I have a 1967 Merc outdrive on a Iron Duke that has a lock-unlock lever on the port side. That unit was was only made for a couple of years and is not interchangeable with the mc 1.My seals were bad and housing was corroded so I had it flash welded and machined for new seal seats.

The Iron Duke was never used in a boat so that rules that out. I think pictures would be best. Any numbers you find would help also.

Nope,... You Don't have an Iron Duke,... You have his Big Sister....

The Iron Duke used in cars is the Pontiac 2.5l, 151cid motor....

The 4 cylinder GM motors used in Boats are the 2.5l Chevy 153cid, 'n the 3.0l, 181cid Chevy motors...

The 2.5l used in Cars, have absolutely Nothing in common with the 2.5L motors used in Boats....
2 Very Different motors...
