Re: Mercruiser repower to diesel advice req!

I have a friend who fitted the same to a 23ft Searay. Seem to be able to run quite well.

Original engine was a 4.3 Merc. Dropped right in with plenty of room between the pulley and fuel tank.

Don't have the 3.0 dimensions, try comparing that to the 4.3, if the length is similar, you won't have probelsm with the diesel fitting.

Fuel tank guage won't be a problem, its independent of the engine.

Wire harness is new. The tacho will be new, petrol and diesel engine tachos are different. Oil and temp will be new but I suspect they are the same sensor. In my friend's case, the new guages were swapped into the old guages. Speedo works the same.

If you are getting the engine second-hand, make sure you get the harness and guages.
