With the help of this forum (especially Don S) I successfully replaced all my bellows, water hose, impellergimble, and shift cable on my 1992 57L. Mercruiser with Gen II. All is well and I've been having trouble free boating so far this season. One slight concern is that on 2 occasions when shifting into to reverse (perhaps a little faster than I might other wise) I have stalled out. I suspect that a slight adjustment to the shift cable may remedy this. Do you agree and if so which way should I adjust it? Should I start by adjusting it to be slightly longer or shorter?

Re: Mercruiser shift cable adjustment

Wow, that's a lot of infromation. I didn't know that the nuts holding the cable down were not suppposed to be tight. I think I'll try that first. I'm not sure that I follow all of the instructions but may be if I read them while looking at the engine they will make more sence.
Thanks
