Hi guys, new to this forum and wondering if anyone can help me out with a few questions please.

Boat in Question:
Four Winns 358
Model: 2007 with DTS & Shaft drive
Eng: Twin Mercruiser 6.2L

1) Where on the boat can I find the Mercruiser Smartcraft junction box
2) I want to remove the Factory Navman 8084 Unit and replace it with my Lowrance HDS Gen2,
Besides the NMEA 2000 what harnesses would I need to so that the Smartcraft talks to the Lowrance Head Unit.
The gauges on the dash are Analogue not digital gauges.

Cheers

It appears the Navman uses NMEA 2000 to connect between units. Smartcraft is the Mercruiser proprietary interface. To connect smartcraft to NMEA you need a converter. If the Navman currently interfaces with smartcraft then you already should have a NMEA to smartcraft converter installed.

Does the navman interface?

Hi there, welcome to iboats!:)

Unless you already were utilizing a Mercruiser smart craft system, the junction boxes wouldn't be installed from new. If it did/does then they would typically be mounted under/behind the helm and look similar to these, http://www.bing.com/images/search?q...artcraft junction box &sc=4-24&sp=1&qs=AS&sk=

Also do a search online for smart craft gateway system that you may need for the gauges and or a nmea 2000 system. http://www.bing.com/images/search?q=smartcraft+gateway+installation+manual&FORM=HDRSC2

Thanks for you replies guys.
I've been in contact with both Lowrance & Mercruiser and neither could give me a definite answer.
The thing that threw me was the analogue gauges on the dash. My understanding is that if that model is DTS which it is, it should have Smartcraft. Mercruiser responded that in 2007 that particular model came out with both digital gauges as well as anologue Needle style guages. A junction box / converter was installed to convert the digital signal to analogue. I'm not to fussed about running the dash gauges as I want to hook everything thru the Lowrance Head unit.
Mainly want to hook up fuel flow, Oil pressure, RPM, battery voltage.
I do understand that I require sensors and a NMEA 2000 backbone to hook everything up but wasn't sure if I also need some sort of gateway from the junction box to the lowrance unit.

On the back of my Navman there is only the Power / GPS and Sonar cables going to it.
The Comms port & Fuel/Nav ports on the unit have no cables going to it.

You will need a smartcraft gateway to use the functions indicated. Once the gateway is installed you should be able to interface with the items listed, except I'm thinking the fuel flow. In order to use fuel flow you will need to install a flow meter.

Could be wrong but fun times should be along to set me straight if I mis-spoke
