Mercruiser Starter 3.7

I noticed this weekend that my starter is making some wierd noises every once in awhile when starting. Can someone give me a hint of what I should be paying for a new one? I have an 1989 mercruiser 3.7 liter Alpha-One. Thanks in advance.

I just bought one for my 1986 Mercruiser 3.7, Alpha one and paid $285.00 Cdn.

Might want to look at the dates of the posts before you reply CPO. This was posted June 27th, 2005.
I would hope he found a starter by now.
