Mercruiser Stern Drive Repair

I just got a great deal on an '84 19' Century Sport 3000 that needs "a little work". Its got a 1984 Mercruiser 260 HP engine. Ive been told it needs a new alternator, bilge pump, power steering pump and a gasket at the outdrive. Im very handy, but this will be my first time working on an engine. Is this something I can accomplish with a little patience and a few Seloc guides?

Ah yes...."famous last words"

Well, if it's all true, then yes you can do it. Those parts are available and easily replaced with normal hand tools (although you'll need an "alignment tool" too!)

Bag the Seloc manual though. You should be able to find an OEM Mercruiser manual......Far better.

You also should be able to get most of the parts at NAPA and they'll have the specialty puller to swap the pulley on the PS pump.
