I have a mercruiser 454 in my 1996 wellcraft 26 SE, the boat only has 144 hours on it and I just bought the boat.
Here is the problem.. I pushed the button to go to throttle only mode and
started the boat everything was ok. I shut the boat off and tried to restart.. It would crank but needed more fuel.. so back to throttle mode. Now the selector button is stuck in and the boat thinks its in gear when its not. It will not crank and my gauges (fuel gauge and volt gauge) are not working. I think the gauges and ignition switch is linked to the neautral safety switch and thats why they are not working. The button that is pushed to go into throttle mode is stuck in. I put the boat in neutral by pulling the cables but it still wont start and the button wont pop back out. I believe it is a mercury or mercruiser quicksilver 300 or 3000 classic.
Anyone have expierience with this unit or have taken one apart.

Thanks Steve..
P.S
I just bought the boat and have already had to replace the impeller ,exhaust manifolds and risers. I havent even had it in the water yet.

If I ever get it on the water,I might. With the problems I have had with it so far the only pictures I would show would be after I dumped a gallon of gasoline on it a lit a match. With as much as I paid for this thing I hoped I would have avoided these problems. it is a 1996 with 144 hrs on it.

I just looked at the manual for the controls. It is a Quicksilver commander 3000 classic panel mount remote control. Hope this helps.
