Mercruiser Throttle Control Repair/Replace 4k Gen II

Best I can tell I have this model in the boat.
883709A02Quicksilver Remote Control GEN II 4000
Flush mount style.

Docking the boat yesterday it felt like one of the plastic pieces on the internal workings were cracked. Doesn't look like the plastic internals are sold separate.

Best advice on path forward? Do I need to buy a whole new everything? Is there an upgraded set of controls I should consider? If I need to buy a whole new everything, where is the best place to source?

It never hurts to take the control apart and see what is wrong. If it is a commonly broken part, you may be able to get a replacement. Backup plan is to figure out a fix.
Once you take many of those side mount controls out of the panel, they are open, and you need to take it out to replace it anyway.

Backstory, was bringing boat into dock last night in some heavy rain. Noticed the control flexes when locked in the neutral position much more than it should, feels like breaking plastic, but not on the arm itself. Is repeatable. Fine when not in the neutral position. Looked at the mechanical diagram and I would suspect the culprit is #13 or #14 on the below. Going to pull the boat out tomorrow, but if I need to source parts I want to be prepared for what I am up against. #13 and #14 are not sold separately by Mercury unfortunately. #13 and #14 appear to be ABS plastic and I imagine it is brittle after 22 years.

Check Crowley Marine. Are you sure its not the 3000 that you have. Had many issues with mine. If u do have the 4000. Which way do the wires from the kill switch come out of the box looking from behind the unit. From the top or bottom? Mine come from top and it appears they installed the switch in upside down. Have to take it apart again.
