Hello all, thanks for looking.

1981 searay srv 260
Mercruiser 226 (305 chevy)
Not positive of drive model. Been replaced some years ago. I-drive maybe???

A couple of weeks ago the trim pump blew an o ring. Replaced that filled with oil, worked.

Last weekend when backing up to beach to camp I realized that drive wasn't coming up.

Got anchored and was messing with the drive and realized that the drive was "floppy" that is, it would move up and down with little effort.
I tied it up with a rope as not to bang on the bottom and camped for the weekend.
Got back to the slip ok.

Gonna look at it more this weekend but I wondered if someone here knew what might be up or somewhere to start the diag.

Thanks in advance for any input,
-Shay

I think you need to drop the drive all the way, check the oil level, then cycle the drive about 10 times, that should clear the system. Check the Adult section here for more help.

I removed the dog bone from the bottom of my pump, sanded on a flat surface and put new orings in, to solve my leak and blow outs.

sounds like hydraulic issues to me... have you check the fluid level??

I blew a hose a few yeard ago..not entirely but was leaking.. i replaced hose and filled reservoir up ...

not sure this is your issue but definitely sounds similar to time.
