Hi
Thanks for everyones help yesterday it all worked great.

When i switch the ignition on should the fuel pump be whining continuously or should it start up when the engine is turned over. My fuel gauge on a 1998Bayliner 2452 is reading full even though the tank is half full, will it be the sender which is moving freely or the fuel gauge itself. Is there any easy testing solution.

With a carbed engine, you shouldn't hear the pump with the ign. sw. on and the engine not running. It should come on when cranking and thru an oil pressure switch when the engine is running.

Could be either. Disconnect the sender wire from the gauge and see if the gauge goes to 0.
When your fuel is lower, pull the sender out of the tank and check it with an ohm meter.

Re: Mercruiser V8 fuel issues

I am brand new to this site and to boating, but cannot find how to start a thread. I know that this is not the place for me to post my thread, but I cannot seem to find where I can begin to post. I have a glastron V210 and would like to drain the fuel tank, but do not know how to do this. Please help. Also please guide me to the proper way to begin to post.

Go to the main page of this forum (with the list of posts) at the top left and bottom left you will find a button that looks like this.
