I have a 1977 mercury montclair boat.It has a 2.5 engine and I was checking the lower end on outdrive and found it full of water.I was reading about a pressure test or a vacuum test.I can come up with the vacuum and pressure gages I just dont know where to screw the fittings to test this. Do you drain the grease and put pressure in lower drain plugs? I know this has been answered but I cant find it anywhere. Somebody help me thanks phil:confused:

The unit should be completely drained. You can use either drain or the vent with the other closed tight.Pump up the presure no higher than 30 and see if it holds.spray some soapy water around the prop shaft.I have seen it done but have never actually done it so hopefully some one here can give you some detailed info but this should get you started.Charlie
