I'm working on my 1982 Merc 228, serial # 6107447 ( non electric choke ). Installing a new electronic distributer and need full 12 volt feed. I've looked at Boat Info.com, Merc Service Manual #3, page 3E-12 electrical system, figure 4.1 to help me by-pass the resister wire. The info on that page is incomplete ( faded half of the picture ). I could use some help locating the resister wire. Thank you.

The resistor wire leading to the coil (which is purple) is the resistor wire. Just need to find another purple wire to get the full 12V. Without an electric choke wire look for where the wire is bonded to the purple wire feeding it or go to the alternator and pick it up there
