Hello,<br />I have a mercruiser 4.3 lx and it starts just fine but after a while of running it wont start. It seems as though it is flooded but after it starts and runs it then wont start again once we stop. Someone had said it could be vaopr lock and since it has been warm this summer, and i have been lifting the engine cover and sometimes that has worked? Any thoughts?

I had a similar problem with my 3.0. The trick was that the electronic distributor module was faulty. When it warmed up, it stopped working. When i turned off the engine, it had too cool down to start again. Do you have spark on every plug?

If you suspect vapor lock, and lifting the engine cover to let cool air in helps sometimes, then I'd also suspect vapor lock. Sometimes running your blower all the time while stopped will suck enough outside air to help cool the fuel line...or maybe the metal line needs to be rerouted or shielded from the hot parts of the engine, so the fuel doesn't boil in the line when it stops flowing.
