I thought some of you would like to see this video of a Mercruiser seacore Drive, With someone talking about the way Mercruisers new seacore is fighting Corrosion, I found it on another site:p Enjoy.

The Mercruiser-Volvo war is on again....

Here's VP response, on Boattest.com:

...I doubt the price tag, I think is't a mistake...." The suggested retail price of the new product is $2,990" What are they talking about? The whole outdrive?

That $2900 is the increase in cost from the standard painted drive and transom shield to the Ocean X series with everything. Anyone know what the increase is for the Merc Seacore? Along with the fact that that XDP drive they showed in the video isn't even used anymore, and is not part of the Ocean X series.

Here is an overview from the VP training manual.

The OceanX? Drive System consists of an engine equipped with closed cooling and an OceanX? module, a unique transom shield kit (TSK) with a special titanium ceramic coating embedded in the TSK surfaces, a DPS-A drive with a special titanium ceramic coating embedded in all component surfaces, an active corrosion protection system, a Drive Oil Quality Monitoring system and a Water in Bellows detection system. The Drive Oil Quality monitoring system and the Water in Bellows detection systems are integrated into the engine ECM so that the boat operator can be visually and/or audibly notified if a low drive oil level condition exists, the drive oil becomes contaminated with water or if the driveshaft U-joint bellows develops a leak.

Re: Mercruisers New Sea Core Corrosion Video.

You're only talking about the drive, not the complete system, find the prices of a Mercruiser (same engine) with and without the Seacore. Then see what the prices are. The drive is only a small portion of the complete system with Volvo, and with Mercruiser.
Read the bolt type in my previous reply about what the Volvo system includes, the go back and watch the video and compare.
Don't just compare a drive price from one company to the price of the full system and expect it to be the same thing.
